New Year’s Non-Resolutions

I remember years ago making resolutions only to have them fall by the wayside within a month or two. I finally gave up and just resolved to do the best I could do and be the best person I can be. Every day of every month, each year, I work hard to stay positive about myself and not allow the negative thoughts get the better of me. As women, we are bombarded every day by magazine and people telling us how we should dress, look, weigh, behave, get a man, etc. It’s no wonder we struggle to overcome our own negativity!

For 2017, let’s recognize, reject and replace negative thoughts and ask ourselves, “Is what we believe true?” Let’s confront our negative thoughts and replace them with more accurate and logical thoughts, and believe that we do have the capacity to create positive change. Positive change isn’t necessarily about getting 6-pack abs but about being healthy, having more energy, fitting into jeans a size smaller, or reducing risks for diabetes or heart disease. It’s all about positive change, not how hardcore you can be. In fact, Oprah changed her mindset recently and lost 42 pounds. Click here to check it out.

So, this year I have decided to not renew any magazines that bombard me with unattainable images of how I should look or dress, and focus on being happy with who I am as a person. What do I want that will make me happy inside and then focus on doing those things that make me happy.
